We’re thrilled to announce something truly special: in April 2027, RAW Photographic will be heading to the Kalahari Reserve in South Africa for the very first time. This marks an exciting new chapter for us — venturing into a landscape unlike any of our previous destinations.

The Kalahari is a place of contrasts and quiet drama. Instead of lush savannas, you’ll find sweeping red dunes, open grasslands, and thornveld scattered beneath endless skies. It’s a desert alive with possibility — where oryx cut striking silhouettes at sunrise, black-maned lions patrol the pans and the ever-curious meerkats provide moments of intimate storytelling.

For photographers, the Kalahari is pure magic. The golden light of dawn and dusk dances off the sand, amplifying every subject against a canvas of color. Wide horizons and uncluttered backdrops make it perfect for both wildlife portraits and dramatic environmental shots. This is a place that challenges your eye and rewards patience with once-in-a-lifetime images.

This journey will be exclusive to just 4 - 6 guests, ensuring space, flexibility, and individual guidance. We’ll have private use of our lodge, meaning we can shape the experience entirely around photography — whether that’s extending a game drive to capture a hunting cheetah in perfect evening light or heading out before dawn to frame the desert waking up.
